Is this normal for coconut water to do?

So my coconut water is a few months old, but it doesn't expire until November. I didn't drink it for a couple months or so. So I shook it up for a couple of minutes and started to pour it out, but then a big booger-looking thing just hung there out of the bottle! It was so gross! It just looked like a giant piece of sticky snot! What was this? Did this ever happen to you? Ick! At least I got to laugh at my family grossing out. Haha
